Photographer Sofia Jaramillo shoots travel photography for advertising campaigns. She is represented by Unrivaled. Summer travel always begs to be photographed. The light lasts longer, the road stretches further, and somewhere out there, a photo is waiting to be taken. For photographer Sofia Jaramillo, that’s not a seasonal feeling. It’s a permanent operating mode. See her travel images through Italy.

A Colombian-American photographer and director based in Sun Valley, ID Sofia builds her commercial work on a documentary foundation, real people, real environments, emotionally resonant storytelling. The result is imagery that doesn’t feel like advertising.

Her photojournalism background gave her an invaluable skill set, the ability to work on the fly and develop photography projects with full narrative arcs, which is exactly what travel demands. You can’t rehearse a desert sunset or schedule a perfect moment on a mountain pass. You have to be ready when it arrives.

That instinct has taken her everywhere. A regular contributor to National Geographic Travel and National Geographic Adventure, with projects of Conde Nast, Sofia has built a body of work rooted in the idea that the best travel photography isn’t about the destination, it’s about what happens when you actually show up to it.
