The Angola Prison Rodeo, held at the Louisiana State Penitentiary known as Angola, is the longest-running prison rodeo in the United States. Established in 1965, it has evolved from a modest event for inmates and staff into a major attraction, drawing thousands of visitors each year. Photograph Travis Gillett spent time documenting the rodeo for a personal project, exploring the complexities of incarceration, rehabilitation, and public entertainment.
