Created in collaboration with Baltimore-based artist Arvay Adams, Jonathan Hanson photographs a collection of custom embroidered sportswear inspired by vintage collegiate athletics and American sports history. Adams’ garments combine traditional craftsmanship, such as hand-painted flocking, patchwork, and vintage embroidery techniques once used on mid-century athletic apparel, with contemporary streetwear sensibilities. His work often references historic athletes, overlooked figures, and cultural movements, transforming familiar sports imagery into pieces that spark conversation about identity, history, and representation.
